I’m calling them “Short Shoots.”

I got the idea for “short shoots” from photographers who have appreciated participating in my regularly scheduled, multi-day and even single day nature photography workshops and tours. “I’d like to attend more of your workshops, but I can’t get the time off from work,” is a comment I hear regularly.

I’ll make sure you get to the right spot at the best time.

Thus, the creation of “Short Shoots.” As the name implies much of the emphasis will be on the amount of time someone needs to free up in order to participate. For the most part, I’m thinking day-long events. Most often on a weekend, though that’s not necessarily a requirement. Some people only have weekends or a few days that they’re on vacation and my regularly scheduled workshops and tours never seem to match-up with their schedule. “Short Shoots” removes that hurdle.

Keep it a private affair

Some people are a little nervous about participating in a group workshop while they master the fundamentals. Maybe you have just gotten interested in photography and are concerned you won’t be able to keep up with a group of more experienced photographers. While that’s never really a problem with the format of my workshops which, accommodates all skill/experience levels, it’s certainly an understandable concern.

So, let’s schedule a private workshop, designed to address your specific interest or needs. We can fit it into the calendar on a date and at a time that’s comfortable for you. You may simply send me an e-mail at [email protected] or give me a call at 315-420-3513 and we can explore options together.

Not so private – Just among friends

This may be the best deal I’ve ever proposed. It’s not as private as a date set-up for just one person . . . but we’ll keep it just among friends. Let’s say that you and a couple or a few friends would all like to set up something just for your small group. A “Short Shoot” just among friends is much like the “private affair” only easier on the pocketbook because you share the costs. It pretty much has to be at least a day-long event, but rather than having to foot the whole cost of the day, as your group grows the cost per person shrinks.

  • One person = $600
  • Two people = $900 (divided two ways)
  • Three people = $1,200 (divided three ways)
  • Four people = #$1,500 (divided four ways)
  • Etc.

Winter is a great time for a photo shoot at Niagara Falls

The options are pretty much unlimited:

  • The date and time – weekdays or weekend – is up to you
  • You pick the venue – I’m happy to suggest some options, of course. If it requires long distance or overnight travel, additional travel expenses should be anticipated.
  • You decide how long you want to be out – a few hours up to a couple days.
  • You tell me what you want your “Short Shoot” (private or “just among friends”) to cover. What do you want to learn? Do you need help becoming comfortable with your camera and just the fundamentals of photography? Are you looking to enhance your skills at composition? Maybe you want to explore the art of nature photography. Do you want to become more proficient with Lightroom? The list could go on and on.
  • Regardless, it’s your choice.
