Hooray for hollyw …. oops, winter

This was the beginning of my shoot today.

This was the beginning of my shoot today.

There are many reasons that I really appreciate that the Good Lord has blessed me with a strong interest in nature/landscape photography. But, one reason that came to the top of the heap today, is that while it seems that virtually everyone I encountered today was complaining about our latest brush with old man winter, I was chomping the bit to grab my camera and get out to play in the snow (and ice).

As is too often the case, day to day priorities kept getting in my way. Snow turned to rain. Rain turned to ice and then back to rain. Even I was beginning to feel offended by the ole man. Then it happened. I was sitting in a parking lot in Camillus waiting for my wife to come out of her hair dresser’s. All of a sudden wet, silver dollar-sized snowflakes were splatting on my windshield. The next couple of minutes lasted a half-hour, but eventually I was turning my pick-up toward home . . . which is where I would take my camera out to play.

As quickly as possible I put a few business tasks on the shelf and headed out. I had arbitrarily decided to see what I could do in my backyard, side yard, front yard and even from last year’s corn field across the street. It would only be an hour of playtime. But, how much fun can a guy take anyway.
