Adirondacks Gallery

“…the lands now or hereafter constituting the Forest Preserve shall be forever kept as wild forest lands…” – With these words, written by the New York State Legislature in 1885, the Adirondack Forest Preserve was born.

The Adirondack Mountains are among the oldest mountains in the United States and yet our understanding of them and our enjoyment of all they offer is of relatively recent vintage. As recent as the middle of the 20th century travel in and around the Adirondacks was time consuming and often difficult. However, modern methods of construction, transportation and now photography are opening their ancient peaks and valleys to an ever more appreciative audience.
